With a solid background in sales, events and the golf industry, Jouko is a Partner at Better World Initiatives and the Head of the company’s initiative, Sports for a Better World. Calm and focused by nature, Jouko is Helinä’s brother and shares her belief in a just, honest society where everyone is respected and equal.
A classic lefty, Jouko’s passion and professional focus has always been golf. During his career as a golf professional, Jouko has competed on the Ecco Tour, the Finnish Tour and the PGA Tour of Thailand. He has played in multiple exclusive pro-am events, spanning over Northern European and Southeast Asian countries. Jouko has also been a professional caddie on the Asian Tour, the Challenge Tour and the European Tour, as well as smaller professional tours in Asia.
The international, high-level interest in Golf for a Better World has encouraged Jouko and Helinä to expand the concept to other high-end sports, such as horse polo and sailing. Sports for a Better World calls out to all sports enthusiasts to support sustainable economic growth in emerging and frontier markets. These high-class events have a true, lasting impact as they aim to become a permanent fixture in the world of sports doing good – as well as in impact investing.
Jouko has contributed to many innovative golf initiatives and is passionate about out-of-the-box thinking. Following all of the pro tours and major tournaments, Jouko is a die-hard fan of the legendary Tiger Woods.
Born in Helsinki, Finland, Jouko is based in Nummela and speaks English, Finnish and some Thai.
